Welcome to the Cotati Park for Dogs

This website has been created to allow users of the Park to communicate with one another.  To offer suggestions.  To express concerns.  Even to educate with information that is useful for you and your pup.  And of course, it is the place to show photos of the dogs we love so much.

The intro will give a brief tutorial on how to use this site, and information about the Park you will need to know, as well as enjoy knowing. (If you have a problem contact: [email protected].  Most questions are answered in less then 24 hours.  Well, we are just volunteers running the site.)

How to use this site

(First and foremost, this site is hosted free by "webs."  It has limitations, but for our use it is perfect.)

  • To gain the greatest access to this site you will need to register.  It's simple to do. Once you've joined create a profile and you are invited to upload a pic.  You must create a profile, or your application will be deleted in 12 days.
  • Contacting another member is also simple.  Click the name, click message, and write.  You can even post a comment on their profile if you wish.
  • Forums is where you can express opinions, ideas, suggestions, ask questions, give  warnings.  Others will be able to respond to your posts.
  • Pup & Park News is where you will find interesting articles on our canine friends.  And, news about the Park concerning its use and care.
  • Photo Albums.  Scroll over a photo to read its caption.  Click on the photo to enlarge or to post your own comments.  If you would like to upload any pictures click the button at the top right, then click "upload."  Chose the photos you want to post. (Please use only jpeg pics) Once your photos are up click the green save button at the bottom of the page.  If you can get them uploaded we'll help put them in the right albums.
  • And lastly, the calendar.  Here you will find activity for you and your pup, and hopefully when events at the Park will be occurring.  Things to keep an eye out for:  Mutt Strut, Swim Days for Dogs at Spring Lake Santa Rosa, booked use for the Great Lawn and Baseball Field.

Respect for the Park, its families, and for other dog owners

The use of the Great Lawn is not a right, it is a privilege.  If we do not respect its use and keep it clean, we will lose our off leash use of it.  More importantly, we all must clean up after our dogs no matter if we are using the Great Lawn, the enclosed dog park, or out walking the trails.  It is simply the right thing to do.

  • If your dog is hyper or aggressive please use your leash when others are entering the Park.  Many dogs quickly become defensive when another dog is bolting right at them.  Use of the leash will help both dogs to take things slowly.
  • If your dog is aggressive and assertive to other dogs you must surrender the field when others approach. Other parks in Sonoma have a greater tolerance for alpha dogs, although no dog park wants a hostile environment.
  • Be considerate to families and small children using the Park.  Your pup might be the sweetest thing to ever walk the earth, but strangers only know of the horror stories of being attacked.  They don't know your pup, and may be afraid of dogs in general.  Keep you pup on a leash when passing by families and children.
